What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device when you visit a website. We also use related technologies (localStorage, sessionStorage) for the same purposes.
Categories we use
Strictly necessary (always on)
connect.sid— signed session cookie set after sign-in. Without it the app cannot keep you signed in. Stored server-side in our PostgreSQL session table; first-party only.vd_cookie_consent— localStorage value remembering your cookie choice so we don’t re-prompt you on every visit.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 with Google Consent Mode v2 (provider: Google LLC, US). How we handle your visit depends on your cookie choice:
- Before you decide, or if you choose “Essential only”: Google Analytics runs in a consent-denied state and sends only cookieless pings — anonymous, aggregated signals (page path, country, referrer, device class). No
_gacookies are written, and no information that identifies you is collected. - If you click “Accept all”: we additionally set the
_gaand_ga_*cookies so we can measure return visits and engagement, with IP anonymization enabled. Ad-personalization signals remain denied.
Managing your choice
Use the “Cookie preferences” link in our footer at any time to change your selection, or clear your browser storage to reset it. Most browsers also allow you to block cookies entirely; doing so may break sign-in.
Do Not Track / GPC
We treat the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a request to limit non-essential cookies. You can still confirm or change your selection in the banner.
